Annabelle 3 Trailer, Release Date, Cast, Story, and News

The third Annabelle film is arriving a week earlier than anticipated, and has a descriptive new name.

The Annabelle series of horror movies is continuing, which is a pretty neat feat when you think about it. As the first Annabelle was a prequel to the supposedly true story in The Conjuring, while the second film was a prequel to the prequel. So were we getting a prequel to the prequel of the prequel? Well… not exactly. Rather, this appears to take place after both of the thus far released Conjuring films, but more on that in a moment.

Annabelle 3 will be arriving to a theater near you soon and now it has an official name. Annabelle 3 will be known as Annabelle Comes Home. That’s a pretty fitting name, given what we know about the film’s plot. Annabelle will indeed be coming home and taking up her rightful place among all of the Warren’s cursed belongings.

Annabelle 3 Release Date

Annabelle Comes Home is now scheduled to open on Wednesday, June 26.

This date represents a two-day shift up from its previous June 28 slot, giving the film a slight jump on its genre competition, the June 21-scheduled Child’s Play reboot, as well as its weekend-debut box office competition, the Danny Boyle-directed comedy, Yesterday. At one point, the Annabelle threequel was scheduled for a July Fourth weekend debut.

Annabelle 3 Details

Gary Dauberman, who penned the first two Annabelle movies, as well as working on the screenplay for Stephen King’s It, makes his directorial debut with the new movie. Dauberman has kind of been the unofficial mind behind The Conjuring universe” when James Wan and the Hayes writing team is taking a break from the main series. In addition to penning the first two Annabelle movies, Dauberman also wrote the screenplay to The Nun spin-off from The Conjuring 2.

Of course, it may be Dauberman becoming even more in-demand within horror filmmaker circles outside of the franchise that leveraged him into the director’s chair. After all, he’s worked on the screenplay both for last year’s smash hit It and next summer’s highly anticipated It: Chapter Two. Paramount has also tapped him to write the screenplay for a cinematic adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon horror anthology for tweens from the 1990s, Are You Afraid of the Dark.

Annabelle 3 Cast

Madison Iseman (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Goosebumps 2) has landed a starring role as the babysitter of McKenna Grace (Gifted, Troop Zero). Grace is playing a familiar character in a bit of a recast: she’s Judy Warren, the daughter of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), who was tormented by Annabelle during the creepiest sequences of the original 2013 Conjuring movie. It appears the doll isn’t done with her. And yes, Wilson and Farmiga are scheduled to cameo in the movie.

Annabelle 3 Story

Expect a Night at the Museum style romp…but terrifying, as Ed and Lorraine Warren’s artifacts room comes alive. Ed and Lorraine are out of town on a case when Annabelle sets her designs on concluding unfinished business with daughter Judy, as well as her babysitter. We have more details on that right here.
